Departments

Music Museum of Nepal has divided its operations into various departments. Each and every department has its own specific responsibility and scope.

Exhibition:
Exhibition department exhibits the related musical instruments according to the calendar and event of the different ethnic groups and castes.

School of music:
School of Music educates Nepalese and non Nepalese citizens to achieve the in depth knowledge of Nepalese folk music and culture. It teaches the students to play and perform the Nepalese cultural and folk music. The school not only teaches the students but it also raises the awareness about the Nepalese folk music. The school aims to inspire the citizens to respect and love the folk music of Nepal.

Library:
The library aims to collect the musical and cultural reference books and audio visuals for the research and study.

Research:
The research department does research on all sectors of Nepalese folk music, musical instruments, and culture.

In search of lost music:
This department only focuses on the research of the lost or forgotten or endangered Nepalese music. This department collects and preserves all the achieved details, proofs, and data of such music.

Musical Journey:
The main intention of this department is to organize musical concerts representing Nepalese folk music and world music around the globe.

Musical healing and meditation:
Research has proven the importance and usage of music in health science. Now, music is also taken as the best healing and meditating methodology by the world. Nepalese traditional music has the higher potential to heal the pain and to meditate the mind and live a healthy and better life.

Conservation Lab:
The conservation lab renovates and the reconstruct the Nepalese folk musical instruments that are damaged and about to lose.

Gift shop:
Music Museum of Nepal collects fund for the operation cost and to run the museum by selling its productions like books, journals, audio visuals. All the selling activities are done through this gift shop department.

Musical café:
To collect fund for the museum, Music Museum of Nepal is currently revising the concept of musical café where the people can have food and good taste of Nepalese folk music.

Musical Band:
In order to promote the Nepalese folk music, Music Museum Nepal has established a musical band ‘Naatyashwora’. The Naatyashwora performs and delivers the typical Nepalese folk music to the national and international audiences.

Audio/Visuals:
This department transcribes the Nepalese folk music into digital audio visuals for the preservation and conservation.

Administration:
The administration department operates and handles all the administrative jobs of the Music Museum of Nepal.

International relation:
International relation department build ups the communication and relation between the international organizations, community, and the people.
